3 Tips for Surviving the Project Plateau

The 99% is one of my favourite blogs. With their unique perspective on creativity and ideas - "It's not about ideas. It's about making ideas happen" - the blog, and the company behind it, Behance, are an ongong inspiration to me.

The CEO and Founder Scott Belsky, gave a talk at the recent 99% Conference in New York City called How to Avoid the Idea Generation Trap. In the presentation, Scott talks about the common phenomenon that all we all face of being excited and enthusiastic about our new business ideas, so much so that we can stay up all night getting started. However, this feeling doesn't last and the longer we tend to work on a project, the more our enthusiasm fades. Scott called this the Project Plateau. Sound familiar?

As a solo entrepreneur (and fiery Sagittarius!), I recognise myself in Scott's dilemia. I get very excited about new projects but without fellow team members to work with, it can be difficult to maintain a sense of interest and momentum sometimes.
